Why are you running independent?

I’m running as an independent because I believe local leadership should be accountable to the people first, not to a party structure. I want the freedom to work with anyone who has a good idea, challenge anyone when something isn’t working, and make decisions based on what’s best for residents rather than what’s best politically. For me, being independent doesn’t mean being isolated. It means being able to listen to Democrats, Republicans, and unaffiliated voters equally and build solutions around what our community actually needs.

What makes me qualified is that I’ve spent nearly a decade helping large government and public-sector organizations solve the same kinds of problems residents deal with every day: inefficient systems, poor communication, lack of transparency, and services that are harder to access than they should be.My background is in political science, technology, legal studies, and government modernization. I’ve worked with federal agencies on improving operations, strengthening accountability, managing complex programs, and making services more efficient and accessible.But what matters most to me is bringing that experience back home. City Council isn’t just about passing resolutions, it’s about asking the right questions, understanding budgets and operations, holding departments accountable, and making sure residents can actually feel the difference in their everyday lives.I also bring the perspective of a resident, a mother, a small business owner, and someone who has been directly engaging with people across this community. I know how to work inside complex systems, but I also understand what it feels like to be on the outside trying to get answers.So I’m not running simply because I want a title. I’m running because I have the experience to identify what isn’t working, the skills to help modernize it, and the independence to put residents first.
